In Estonia, every building with a building permit issued since 1 January 2020 must be a nearly zero-energy building (energy class A), so almost every new house has an MVHR unit – and its filters need replacing regularly.

The filter set includes 2 filters of different efficiency classes:

This filter set follows the ISO 16890 standard for particle filtration efficiency. The G4 filter captures up to 60% of coarse airborne particles that are larger than 10 microns, such as soil particles, large pollen grains, plant debris, insect wings, sawdust, sand and textile lint. It’s designed to clean the air extracted from your indoor space, helping to reduce visible dust and general build-up in the ventilation system. This lowers energy consumption, keeps the unit quiet, and extends your system’s lifespan. The F7 filter captures around 60% of particles that are 10 microns or smaller, including bacteria, smog, tobacco smoke particles, combustion dust, spores, and wildfire smoke particles. It helps clean incoming outdoor air before it enters your home, improving indoor air quality and protecting your health.

Brink recommends replacing the filters every 3–6 months to ensure optimal air quality and system performance. However, replacement frequency may vary depending on factors such as:

If your system includes a filter change indicator, follow its alerts. Otherwise, check the filters visually – if they appear very dirty or clogged, it’s time to replace them.

A handy rule of thumb in Estonia: always replace the filters in autumn, before the heating season, and in spring, before the birch trees flower in April–May, when the air carries the most pollen.

This filter set is manufactured by Brink, a long-established ventilation specialist based in the Netherlands. With over a century of experience and a strong focus on innovation, Brink is known for producing reliable, energy-efficient air handling systems. Both their ventilation units and original filters are developed and manufactured in-house at their facility in Staphorst, ensuring full compatibility and dependable performance. The production process meets rigorous European production standards, and each original filter is thoroughly tested for airflow efficiency, filtration capacity, and long-term durability. The G4 panel filter on the extract side is made using Z-line technology, featuring folded filter media mounted in a cardboard frame. Such design increases the filtration surface area, improves particle retention, ensures a more uniform airflow distribution, and maintains a low pressure drop. The F7 material filter on the supply side is constructed with a durable galvanized wire frame that resists moisture and deformation, ensuring long-term structural stability. The filter media is made from premium-quality non-woven synthetic fibres – safe, resilient, and highly effective at capturing coarse airborne particles.

Model compatibility Compatible with the following models: Brink Flair 450 Brink Flair 600 In Estonia, every building with a building permit issued since 1 January 2020 must be a nearly zero-energy building (energy class A), so almost every new house has an MVHR unit – and its filters need replacing regularly.
